Get Better Auto Insurance for a Cheap Rate, Liability Coverage

Everyone is looking for the best auto insurance discounts but do they care about the coverage they receive? It’s important to not only get a low rate but to also get an adequate amount of coverage in case you find yourself the negligent party in an auto accident. When I talk about adequate coverage, I’m placing focus on the liability limits of your auto policy.

State minimum liability limits vary from state to state. Some states require less than $10,000 for property damage on your auto policy. If you select to have less than $10,000 (PD) property damage liability coverage what happens when you hit a newer car? Well, if the other driver feels they can get something more from you they’ll take you to court for the amount your insurance company could not pay for. For only a few more dollars a month you can more than likely double your liability limits. Now instead of $10,000 (PD) you can feel more secure with $20,000 of property damage coverage.

Another portion of your liability policy covers your (BI) Bodily injury coverage. This is a very important part of liability coverage which is why I saved it for last. Injuries from a severe auto accident can and will cost well over state minimum limits in some states. Check your car insurance liability limits in your state to have a better idea how much you are covered if in fact you do carry state minimum limits only. Some injuries can exceed 6 figure amounts. If you do not have the coverage to pay for this type of injury, what will they go after? Sometimes a lawyer will help the injured go after a piece of property.

Common Liability Limit Selection:

The more assets the typical Insured owns the higher limits the insured will usually select. Nobody wants to lose assets earned over time due to a single occurance and low limits of coverage. Comparison shopping for auto insurance is one of the best ways to get better auto insurance coverage for less than what you may currently be paying.
